A town in Como Province, Lombardy, northern Italy. Population 3,050 (1990). Located at the tip of a promontory that splits the inverted Y-shaped Lake Como into two as it heads south, the town is famous among the many resorts scattered around the shores of Lake Como due to its excellent location surrounded by the lake on three sides. Home to the 12th century Church of San Giacomo, the villas of the Melzi family and the Serbelloni family, both of which have gardens facing the lake, and more.
