Veneto - Veneto

Japanese: ベネト語 - ベネトご
Veneto - Veneto
A language belonging to the Indo-European language family. It is the language of inscriptions dating from the 6th to 1st centuries BCE that have been widely excavated in the Venetian region, and is now extinct. It was once considered a dialect of Illyrian, but recently the theory that it should be placed in the Italic family has gained popularity due to its similarities to Latin. However, there are only less than 20 words with a definite Indo-European etymology.

Japanese:
インド・ヨーロッパ語族に属する言語。ベネチア地方で広範囲に出土した,前6世紀から前1世紀ごろの碑文中の言語で現在は死語。イリュリア語の一方言とみなされてきたが,最近ではラテン語との類似からイタリック語派に入れる説が有力。しかし,インド・ヨーロッパ語による確実な語源解釈がつく語彙(ごい)は20足らずしかない。
