A town in Inashiki County, occupying the plateau southwest of Lake Kasumigaura in southern Ibaraki Prefecture. Ami, the center of the town, was the site of the Lake Kasumigaura Naval Air Corps in 1921, and was known nationwide as the Yoka Ren (Air Training School) during World War II. Even today, the Self-Defense Forces' Weapons School is still there. An industrial park has been developed, and manufacturing is thriving. Watermelons are produced here. The Ken-O Expressway runs through the town. The town sustained damage in the Great East Japan Earthquake. Area 71.40 km2 . Population 47,940 (2010). 茨城県南部，霞ヶ浦南西部の台地を占める稲敷(いなしき)郡の町。中心の阿見は1921年霞ヶ浦海軍航空隊が置かれ，第２次世界大戦中予科練の名で全国に知られた。現在も自衛隊の武器学校などがある。工業団地が造成され，製造業が盛ん。スイカを産する。圏央道が通じる。東日本大震災で，町内において被害が発生。71.40km2。４万7940人（2010）。
