Around 1545 - 1605 Spanish architect. Born in Trujillo. Directly introduced European architectural theories, methods, techniques, and styles to 16th-century Latin America. The first person to work as a private citizen without belonging to a religious order or government. He stayed in Mexico from 1573 to 1580, and designed the Puebla Cathedral (1575) and other buildings. After staying in Quito, Ecuador, from 1582 he designed the cathedrals of Lima and Cusco in Peru.
