A Viking-era trading post located in the southern part of the Jutland Peninsula, deeper than the Baltic Sea, at the head of the Bay of Schlei. In German it is called Haithabu. It is now part of Germany. In the Annals of the Frankish Kingdom, for the year 808, it is written that the Danish king Gothofred destroyed the Obotrid (Polish) trading post Reric and forced its merchants to move to Sliesthorp (Hedeby), and it was also called Sliasvicus ("the trading post of the Bay of Schlei").
