A kind of international auxiliary language (international language) announced by Cambridge University psychologist CK Ogden in 1930. Quite different from so-called "artificial" international languages such as Esperanto, it is based on the English that is actually used, with its vocabulary and grammar reduced in complexity, and is intended to be easily understandable by any native English speaker. "Basic" means "basic" and is also claimed to be an acronym for "British, American, Scientific, International, Commercial." Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
