Davidia (English spelling) dove tree

Japanese: ダビディア（英語表記）dove tree

A deciduous tall tree of the Davidiaceae family. It is found in mountainous areas at an altitude of around 2000m in southwestern China, and grows to a height of 15-20m. The leaves are alternate, the blade is broadly ovate, 8-14cm long, has slightly rough sawtooth edges, and the underside of the leaf is densely covered with pale yellow hairs. The petiole is 4-5cm long. Many male flowers and one bisexual flower form a capitulum about 2cm in diameter. The flower has no perianth, and male flowers usually have 5-6 stamens, while bisexual flowers have 15-25 short stamens above the ovary, and the style is thick and short, with 6-8 lobes at the tip.
