Born in 1668. The eldest son of Okabe Masatsuna. In 1582, he succeeded to the family headship. He served in the Battle of Komaki and Nagakute, and followed Tokugawa Ieyasu. After serving in the Tanba Kameyama Domain (Kyoto Prefecture) and Fukuchiyama Domain, in 1624 he became the first head of the Okabe family to rule Ogaki Domain in Mino (Gifu Prefecture). He had a fief of 50,000 koku. He was well versed in the tea ceremony. He died on November 2, 1626. He was 65 years old. His other name was Yasutsuna. He was commonly known as Yajiro.
