The Imperial Palace (Daidairi) of Heian-kyo is located in the northern central area of Kyoto, stretching approximately 1.2 km east to west and 1.4 km north to south. The Chodoin is located in the southern central area of the palace, and the Dairi is located to the northeast of that. The government buildings of various government offices are lined up around them.
