Medicinal bath

This refers to the use of a solution of medicinal drugs or a decoction of herbal medicines for whole body or local bathing. Examples include local bathing with a 0.05-0.1% cresol soap solution to treat athlete's foot, sulfur baths for chronic eczema and scabies, and chamomile baths for anti-inflammatory and anti-itch purposes.

医薬品を溶液とし、あるいは生薬(しょうやく)を煎剤(せんざい)として、これを全身または局所の浴用に供することをいう。水虫の治療にクレゾールせっけん液0.05～0.1％溶液をもって局所の浴用とする例や慢性湿疹(しっしん)や疥癬(かいせん)などに硫黄(いおう)浴が用いられるほか、消炎およびかゆみどめの目的で用いられるカミツレ浴などがある。
