The body structure of the descendant of Parahippus, Merychippus , was more adapted to grassland life, but other species also appeared, such as the small Nannippus and Hipparion, and the large Pliohippus . Hipparion migrated from North America to Eurasia, replacing the forest-dwelling Anchitherium, and even advanced into the savannah environment, remaining in various places until the appearance of the one-toed Equus at the beginning of the following Quaternary Period. ...
