Japanese: ラクダムシ(駱駝虫) - ラクダムシ（英語表記）snakefly

A general term for insects belonging to the order Neuroptera, suborder Raphidiodea, or one of these species. These insects are small to medium in size, with a wingspan of 10 to 40 mm. Their bodies are dark brown or black, and females have a long, slender ovipositor. The name camel worm comes from the fact that the long prothorax and the round, hump-like mesothorax and metathorax resemble the back of a camel. Most species are found in the Northern Hemisphere, and are not found in Australia or sub-Saharan Africa. About 150 species have been recorded from around the world, but only two species are known to live in Japan.

脈翅目ラクダムシ亜目Raphidiodeaに属する昆虫の総称，またはそのうちの1種を指す。この仲間は小型から中型で翅の開張10～40mm。体は暗褐色ないし黒色で，雌は細長い産卵管をもつ。ラクダムシの名は，長くのびた前胸とまるいこぶのような中胸，後胸がラクダの背を思わせるところからきている。大部分の種は北半球に分布し，オーストラリアとサハラ以南のアフリカには産しない。世界から約150種が記録されているが，日本には2種しか知られていない。
