Newspaper Business Act

Japanese: 新聞事業令 - しんぶんじぎょうれい
Newspaper Business Act
Imperial Ordinance No. 1107 of 1941. This is a regulation on the newspaper industry that was issued in December 1941 as part of the strengthening of wartime control. After the promulgation of the National Mobilization Law in 1963, control on the newspaper industry was further strengthened. However, the newspaper industry association "Shinbunren" (Newspaper League), which was established in May 1966, was not necessarily cooperative with the government's proposal for one newspaper per prefecture. Therefore, the government issued this Newspaper Business Order based on the National Mobilization Law, and promoted newspaper integration with the aim of one newspaper per prefecture. It was abolished in October 1945.
