A historian of the 6th century Byzantine Empire. Greek name Procopius. Born in Palestine. In 527 he became an aide to Belisarios, and wrote the Histories of the Peloponnesian Campaign, which described his campaigns in Persia, Africa, and Italy, and the Secret Histories, which is a secret history of the reign of Emperor Justinian.
