[Internal structure of the stem]
According to J. Sachs, the internal structure of the stem is divided into the epidermis, ground tissue, and vascular systems, while van Tieghem's classification system calls them the epidermis, cortex, and central style. The epidermis is covered with the cuticle and has stomata, which protect the plant body and allow gas exchange through the stomata.
