The term refers to movies (pictures) that are mass-produced to fill a movie theater's weekly program, and was coined when "double features" (two feature films in one program) began in the United States in the early 1930s. In English, it is also called "programmer." In other words, it is a "second feature, supporting feature, or co-feature" that is shown alongside the "feature film" that is the main part of the program.
