A multi-function instrument that can measure multiple quantities using a changeover switch. Testers are one type of instrument, and can measure DC voltage, current, resistance, and AC voltage, and may also have additional functions for special applications (such as low-frequency output and temperature measurement). A typical example of a digital instrument is the digital multimeter, which can display DC voltage, current, and AC voltage digitally.
