Pudding

Japanese: プリン
Pudding

1H- imidazo[4,5- d ]pyrimidine . C5H4N4 (120.11). Purine itself does not occur in nature, but various derivatives do. In plants, caffeine (tea, coffee), theobromine (cocoa), theophylline (tea), xanthine ( seeds, leaves, fruits), etc. In animals, xanthine (urine, blood, liver), adenine, guanine (nucleic acids), uric acid (urine), etc. It is obtained by heating 4,5-diaminopyrimidine with formic acid in the presence of carbon dioxide, or by treating uric acid with phosphorus trichloride to make the trichloro derivative, which is then reduced with hydrogen iodide. Colorless needles. Melting point 216-217 °C. Easily soluble in water and hot ethanol, slightly soluble in hot ethyl acetate and acetone, insoluble in ether and chloroform. Adenine and guanine are important as bases in nucleic acids, and uric acid and xanthine are closely related to purine metabolism in the body. Many purine derivatives are thus important in biochemistry. [CAS 120-73-0]

1H-imidazo[4,5-d]pyrimidine.C5H4N4(120.11).
