Transfiguration

In addition, in an old Christian tradition, this mountain is said to be the site of the so-called Transfiguration, in which Jesus suddenly changed his appearance in front of his disciples Peter, James, and James' brother John, and spoke to Moses and Elijah (Matthew 17, Mark 9, Luke 9). A large church commemorating this event now stands on the ruins of the ancient church (completed in 1924). …
