Roman politician and author. Nephew of Pliny the Elder. He was governor of Bithynia in Asia Minor. He wrote a laudatory speech to Emperor Trajan (Odes) and ten volumes of letters written for publication. Among his most famous letters are one describing the eruption of Mount Vesuvius and another about the treatment of Christians. He is known as Pliny the Younger.
