Liangzhu Town Ruins (English: Liangzhu Town Ruins)

Japanese: 良渚鎮遺跡 - りょうしょちんいせき（英語表記）Liáng zhǔ zhèn yí zhǐ

A site from the late Jiangnan Neolithic period, located northwest of Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China. It was investigated in 1936 and became the basis for the name Liangzhu culture. Black pottery and polished stone tools were excavated along with the remains. The Liangzhu culture followed the Qingliangang culture, and is found in northern Zhejiang Province, southern Jiangsu Province, around Lake Taihu, and in the lower reaches of the Qiantang River. Burials were performed with the deceased lying down in a supine, extended position, and no pit was dug, but the deceased was covered with soil from above. Pottery includes red clay pottery for cooking vessels such as tripods, clayey clay pottery for tableware and serving vessels, and gray-plated black-robed pottery, but it is the black-robed pottery that characterizes this culture.

中国，浙江省杭州市北西にある江南新石器文化後･末期の遺跡。1936年に調査され，良渚文化の名のもととなった。黒陶と磨製石器が共伴して出土した。良渚文化は青蓮崗文化に後続し，浙江省北部，江蘇省南部の太湖周辺や銭塘江下流域に分布する。墓葬は仰臥伸展の単身葬で，墓壙を掘らず上から土を覆っている。土器には鼎（てい）などの炊器用の夾砂紅陶，飲食器や盛器用の泥質灰陶，灰胎黒衣陶があるが，黒衣陶がこの文化を特徴づけている。
