Bṛhaj‐jātaka

Japanese: ブリハッ･ジャータカ（英語表記）Bṛhaj‐jātaka

This is an Indian astrological book written by Varāhamihira in the 6th century. It belongs to the Jataka, one of the three major branches of Indian divination, and is still the most widely read and authoritative in this field to this day. Jataka means divination based on birth dates, and it mainly deals with horoscope astrology of Hellenistic origin. The oldest document in this field is the Yavana-jātaka, translated from Greek into Sanskrit in the 2nd century.

6世紀にバラーハミヒラVarāhamihiraが著したインドの占星術書。インドの占いの三大分野の一つ〈ジャータカ〉に属し，現在にいたるまでこの分野で最もよく読まれ，権威あるものとされている。〈ジャータカ〉とは誕生日に関する占いという意味であり，ヘレニズム起源のホロスコープ占星術を主として扱う。この分野の文献として最も古いのは《ヤバナ･ジャータカYavana‐jātaka》で2世紀にギリシア語からサンスクリットに翻訳された。
