One of the major oil companies, with the largest sales in the UK. Abbreviated as BP. Headquartered in London. With 1,900 affiliated companies, it operates in over 70 countries. It is active in all fields related to oil, and has expanded into other energy fields such as natural gas and coal, making it a comprehensive energy company. It is also a conglomerate with industries such as chemicals, food, and information technology. BP's predecessor was the Anglo-Persian Oil Co., Ltd., which was established in 1909 to develop the oil concession granted to WK Darcy by the Iranian government in 1901.

石油メジャーの一つで，売上高ではイギリス最大。略称BP。本社ロンドン。1900もの関連会社を有し，70ヵ国以上で事業活動を行う。石油に関係するすべての分野で事業活動を行うと同時に，天然ガス，石炭といった他のエネルギー分野にも事業を拡大し，総合エネルギー企業となっている。それに加え化学，食品，情報技術等の産業を抱えるコングロマリットでもある。　BPの前身は，1901年イラン政府がW.K.ダーシーに与えた石油利権を開発するために09年設立されたアングロ･ペルシアン石油会社Anglo‐Persian Oil Co.，Ltd.である。
