A former town in Haguri County on the left bank of the Kiso River in the northwestern tip of Aichi Prefecture. Kuroda Castle was built at the end of the Sengoku period, and a market was also opened. It belongs to the Bisai woolen textile industrial area, and the textile industry is thriving. It is served by the Tokaido Main Line and the Meitetsu Nagoya Main Line. In April 2005, it was incorporated into Bisai City and Ichinomiya City. 9.51 km2 . Population: 31,604 (2003).
