Japanese: フラワー･アレンジメント（英語表記）flower arrangement

Arranging flowers using flowers, leaves, branches, etc. Also called flower design, this term has come into use in recent years. Formerly it was called bouquet art. These are treated as "Western-style ikebana" and distinguished from traditional Japanese ikebana. Flower arrangements emphasize geometric symbolism and philosophical aspects, such as arranging flowers symmetrically and asymmetrically, and aim for high decorativeness through combinations of flower shapes and colors based on free and creative imagination.

花，葉，枝などを使って花を生けること。フラワー･デザインflower designともいい，近年使われるようになった言葉である。古くはブーケ･アートbouquet artなどと呼ばれていた。これらは日本古来のいけばなに対し〈西洋風いけばな〉として区別して扱われている。フラワー･アレンジメントでは花を対称および非対称に配置するなど幾何学的な象徴性や哲学性を重視し，さらに自由な創意に基づき花の形や色彩の組合せによって，高い装飾性が目ざされる。
