〘 noun 〙 (named after its use in the manufacture of cannons in the past) A type of copper alloy. It contains about 10% tin. Sometimes small amounts of zinc and lead are added. It has low tensile strength but is resistant to wear and corrosion, so it is used for bearings and ship parts.
