Born: March 13, 1700, Besançon [Died] October 28, 1768. Paris. French flutist and composer. An unrivaled flute virtuoso in the mid-18th century, he taught the flute to Frederick the Great when he was still Crown Prince, and was active in Paris. His works include three volumes of flute sonatas (1728-1740), a flute concerto, and an opera.
