Mount Rakan

A mountain on the border between Yamaguchi and Hiroshima prefectures. It is 1,109 meters above sea level. It straddles Iwakuni City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, and Hatsukaichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture. From the summit, which has a gently sloping terrain made of serpentine, you can see the West Chugoku Mountains to the north and the Seto Inland Sea to the south, and it has the best view in Yamaguchi Prefecture. It is designated as Rakansan Prefectural Natural Park, and on the middle slope, there are the Rakan Highland Pasture, a ski resort, a highland lodge, and a campsite, and it has also been designated as a youth travel village.

山口・広島県境にある山。標高1109メートル。山口県岩国市と広島県廿日市(はつかいち)市にまたがる。蛇紋岩からなるなだらかな地形を示す山頂からは、北に西中国山地、南にはるか瀬戸内海を望む山口県随一の景観で、羅漢山県立自然公園に指定され、中腹には、らかん高原放牧場、スキー場、ハイランドロッジ、キャンプ場施設も整備され、青少年旅行村にも指定されている。
