Masahiko Kimura

Japanese: 木村政彦 - きむらまさひこ

1917-1993 A judoka and professional wrestler from the Showa era.
Born September 10, 1917. Entered Takushoku University in 1935 and won the university and technical college division of the Meiji Jingu Tournament. Won the national tournament five times both before and after the war, and remained undefeated until his retirement in 1950. It was said that "there was no Kimura before Kimura, and no Kimura after Kimura." After failing to form a professional judo team, he turned to professional wrestling in 1951. He faced Rikidozan in 1954 and lost. Later became a professor at Takushoku University. Died April 18, 1993. Age 75. Born in Kumamoto Prefecture.

大正6年9月10日生まれ。拓殖大に入学した昭和10年,明治神宮大会大学・高専の部で優勝。戦前,戦後あわせて全国大会で5度優勝するなど,25年に引退するまで不敗で,「木村の前に木村なく,木村のあとに木村なし」といわれた。プロ柔道の結成に失敗し,26年にプロレスに転向。29年力道山と対戦し敗れた。のち拓殖大教授。平成5年4月18日死去。75歳。熊本県出身。
