Cleaning Dormitory - Kamonryo

The Cleaning Department can also be read as "Kanomori," "Kamumori," or "Kamori." The Cleaning Department was a vassal of the Ministry of Finance under the Yoro Personnel Order, and was responsible for setting up pavements, sweeping (sprinkling water and sweeping), and other tasks for various Imperial events. In 820 (Kōnin 11), it was merged with the Naisobu-shi of the Imperial Household Ministry to become the Cleaning Department, a vassal of the Imperial Household Ministry, and like the Shuden-ryo, it had one head, one assistant, one secretary, one daisakan, and one junior member, and below them were the Cleaning Department and the Envoys. According to the Engishikibu-shiki, Shisei also belonged to the department. The equivalent rank of a head was Junior Fifth Rank. The Engishikibu-ryo-shiki contains detailed regulations on setting up the facility and procuring materials.

掃部は「かにもり」「かむもり」「かもり」ともよむ。養老職員令(ようろうしきいんりょう)の大蔵省の被官に掃部司があり、鋪設(ふせつ)、洒掃(さいそう)（水を打ち掃(は)き清めること）など、すなわち朝廷諸行事の設営をつかさどった。820年（弘仁11）に宮内省の内掃部司と合併され、宮内省被官で掃部寮となり、職員は主殿寮と同じく頭(かみ)・助(すけ)・允(じょう)・大属(だいさかん)・少属各1人を置き、その下に掃部・使部などが所属した。延喜(えんぎ)式部式によると史生も所属した。頭の相当位は従(じゅ)五位下。延喜掃部寮式に設営や資材の調達についての詳細な規定がある。
