The Flavian family ruled the Roman Empire in the second half of the 1st century. From 69 to 96. Vespasian (reigned 69-79) of the Flavian family, who put an end to the civil war following the death of Emperor Nero and the end of the Julio-Claudian dynasty, was welcomed as head of state, and during his reign the legal system was established and the bureaucracy developed. His eldest son Titus (reigned 79-81), who succeeded him, ruled well and was praised as "the favorite of mankind." However, his second son Domitian (reigned 81-96) was assassinated due to his tendency to reign with terror. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
