First time climbing a mountain - Uiyamabumi

Motoori Norinaga's theory of learning. Published in 1798 (Kansei 10). Norinaga completed the Kojiki-den in the same year, and in response to a request from his students, he wrote an essay explaining the mindset of beginners aspiring to study Japanese classics. With Kamo no Mabuchi's Nihimanabi (published in 1765) in mind, he places the study of the way at the center of learning, provides specific examples of how to study, and also gives a detailed explanation of the attitude toward learning, such as not being obsessed with tradition or convention. Furthermore, he does not limit Japanese classics to the study of the way, but emphasizes the importance of related fields such as the study of poetry and prose, the study of court etiquette and customs, and the study of national history, showing the flexibility of Japanese classics.
