Bhadravarman I

...In ancient times, the Chinese called it Linyu, and it was influenced by Chinese culture at first, but by the end of the 3rd century, it had formed a society that incorporated Indian culture, and created a sphere of influence of several clans from the north of Quang Nam in present-day Central Vietnam to the Nai Cape in Phu Khanh Province, and the first dynasty loosely ruled the whole area. According to a surviving Sanskrit inscription, at the end of the 4th century, Bhadravarman I built a temple to Shiva in My Son, southwest of Quang Nam, and during this period, which is thought to be the second dynasty, local forces were integrated and an Indian-style kingdom was established. After that, it developed transit trade connecting Southeast Asia with West Asia and the coastal region of southern China, but the country's power did not necessarily expand due to constant Chinese pressure from the north and changes in royal lineage, and after the fall of the 4th dynasty (757), royal power moved south and the 5th dynasty was established in Panduranga (Phan Rang). ...

…中国人に古くは林邑（りんゆう）の名で呼ばれ，初めは中国文化の影響を受けたが，3世紀末までにインド文化を取り入れた社会を形成するとともに，現在の中部ベトナムのクアンナム北方からフーカイン省ナイ岬付近にかけて複数の氏族勢力圏をつくり，その全体をゆるやかに支配する最初の王朝も存在した。伝存するサンスクリット碑文によると，4世紀末にバードラバルマン1世Bhadravarman Iがクアンナム南西のミソンにシバ神を祀る神殿を建立しており，第2王朝とみられるこの時代に地方勢力が統合されてインド風の王国が成立した。その後，東南アジアと西アジアおよび南中国沿海地方を結ぶ中継貿易を発展させたが，北方から絶えず加えられる中国の圧迫と王統の交替によって国勢は必ずしも伸展せず，第4王朝の滅亡(757)後，王権が南方に移ってパンデュランガPanduranga(ファンラン)に第5王朝が興った。…
