Kumano [town] - Kumano
A town in Aki District, southern Hiroshima Prefecture. It is located in a mountain basin in the Kibi Plateau. It has been known for producing Kumano brushes since the end of the feudal era, and accounts for almost all of the production of calligraphy brushes and painting brushes in the country. It is close to both Kure and Hiroshima, and has seen active residential development in recent years. 33.76 km2 . Population: 24,533 (2010).
