Japanese: ノラナ - のらな

A dicotyledonous perennial plant of the Nolanaceae family (illustration). It is planted in flower beds for decorative purposes. It has a taproot, and the stem is slightly upright at the central axis, grows to about 30 cm in height, and the branches are creeping, sometimes spreading to about 1 m. The leaves are slightly fleshy and have petioles, alternate or opposite, and the leaf blade is ovate or ovate-oblong and entire. From the axils, pedicels of about the same length as the leaves emerge, and the flowers are terminal. The flowers are blue-purple, trumpet-shaped, gamopetalous, about 3 to 6 cm in diameter, with a white center of the corolla and a yellow center, creating a vivid color contrast.
