Japanese: 二葉保育園 - ふたばほいくえん

A representative nursery school founded in the Meiji period. It was opened in 1900 in Kojicho, Tokyo, under the name Futaba Kindergarten, by Christians led by Noguchi Yuka (1866-1950). While kindergartens at the time tended to care for children of the middle class and above, this kindergarten was based on the idea that it was the duty of adults to educate the children of the poor in a good environment, and provided care for children aged three and over for seven to eight hours a day, with days off limited to Sundays, national holidays, and the New Year's holidays, thereby helping working parents. The content of the care included play, singing, conversation, and manual training.

明治期に創設された代表的な保育所。野口幽香（ゆか）(1866‐1950)らクリスチャンにより，1900年東京麴町に二葉幼稚園の名で開設された。当時の幼稚園が中流以上の子どもの保育に傾いていたのに対し，貧民の子を良い境遇において教育することはおとなの義務であるとの考えに立って，3歳以上の幼児を対象に1日7～8時間の保育を行い，休日も日曜･祝祭日と年末年始に限り，これにより父母の労働を助けた。保育内容は〈遊嬉〉〈唱歌〉〈談話〉〈手技〉であった。
