Reticulum - Reticulum

A constellation that can be seen low in the south on winter evenings. It is located far south of Eridanus. It is a southern hemisphere constellation that can be seen above the horizon in the direction of Okinawa. It is one of 14 new constellations announced by French astronomer Lacaille in 1763, and refers to a cross-like line (collimation system) that is placed in the field of view of a telescope. It was originally called Lozenge Reticuli, but is now simply called Reticuli. Its Japanese name was once translated as Koamiza.

冬の宵の南に低く見える星座。エリダヌス座のずっと南寄りに位置する。沖縄方面で水平線上に見ることのできる南半球の星座である。フランスの天文学者ラカイユが1763年に発表した14の新星座のうちの一つで、望遠鏡の視野に張る十字線のようなもの（視準系）を意味する。初めは菱形レチクル座(ひしがたれちくるざ)ともよばれていたが、現在は単にレチクルとよばれている。日本名もかつては小網座(こあみざ)と訳されていたこともあった。
