Tokyo Rose - Tokyo Rose (English spelling)

American announcer.
Also known as Iva Toguri, Mrs. Iva Ikuko Toguri d'Aquino.
An American citizen with Japanese parents, he studied zoology at the University of California, Los Angeles. He was in Japan when the war broke out and joined the Japan Broadcasting Company, where he received broadcasting training from American prisoners of war and broadcast propaganda to demoralize Allied soldiers in the East. In 1948, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison and fined $10,000 for treason, but was pardoned by President Ford in 1977. He currently lives in Chicago, but denies the existence of the Tokyo Rose.

両親が日本人のアメリカ市民でカリフォルニア大学ロスアンゼルス校で動物学を学ぶ。大戦勃発時に滞日していたため日本放送会社に入り、米国人捕虜から放送の訓練を受け、東洋の連合軍兵士に士気をくじくための宣伝放送を行う。1948年反逆罪で10年の投獄と1万ドルの罰金を宣告されるが、’77年フォード大統領により赦免される。現在シカゴに住んでいるが、東京ローズを否定している。
