A poet of the Heian period. The fourth son of Tokiwa Tango no Kami Tametada. He rose to the rank of Iki no Kami, Junior Fifth Rank, but became a monk before Kuju (1154-56). Called Jakuzen (also Yuishinbo), he was known as one of the Tokiwa Sanjaku (Ohara Sanjaku) along with his elder brothers Tamemune (Jakunen) and Tametsune (Jakucho). He lived a secluded life in Ohara and was on friendly terms with Saigyo. He even visited Emperor Sutoku, who was exiled to Sanuki, between the time of the Hogen Rebellion (1156) and Chokan 2 (1164). His family anthologies include "Yuishinbo Shu" and "Jakunen Hoshi Shu," as well as "Hommon Hyakushu." He is the most highly regarded of the Tokiwa Sanjaku. 平安時代の歌人。常盤丹後守為忠の4男。従五位下壱岐守に至るが,久寿(1154～56)以前に出家。寂然(唯心房とも)と称し,兄の為業(寂念),為経(寂超)と共に常盤三寂(大原三寂)と呼ばれた。大原で隠遁生活を営み,西行と親しく交際した。保元の乱(1156)後から長寛2(1164)年までの間に,讃岐に流された崇徳上皇を訪ねたこともある。家集に『唯心房集』『寂然法師集』があるほか,『法門百首』がある。常盤三寂のなかでは最も評価が高い。隠逸的傾向が強く,信仰に裏付けられた閑寂な境地を切り開いた。<参考文献>井上宗雄『増補版・平安後期歌人伝の研究』
