The consort of Emperor Uda in the early Heian period. Also known as Empress Shichijo and Empress Higashi Shichijo. Also known as Yoshiko. Daughter of Fujiwara no Mototsune and Princess Misako. In the midst of the Ahō Dispute, she entered the Imperial Court in 888. She entered the residence of the legitimate empress, Kōkiden. This led to a reconciliation between Emperor Uda and Mototsune. In 890, she gave birth to Princess Kinshi. In 897, she was promoted to Junior Third Rank. When Emperor Uda abdicated in 897, she became the Crown Princess and stepmother of Emperor Daigo. She was called Chugu. She lived in Higashi Gojo Horikawa-in, Suzaku-in, Higashi Shichijo-no-miya, and other places. In 905, she became a nun. She had a talent for waka poetry and was a central figure in the poetry world of the time. She was the wife of the poet Ise Atsushi.

平安時代前期の宇多天皇女御。七条皇后,東七条皇后とも。「よしこ」とも。藤原基経と操子女王の子。阿衡の紛議のさなか,仁和4(888)年入内。嫡后の居所弘徽殿に入る。これにより宇多天皇と基経は和解した。寛平2(890)年均子内親王を生む。寛平5年正三位。寛平9(897)年宇多天皇譲位により醍醐天皇継母として皇太夫人になる。中宮を称す。東五条堀川院,朱雀院,東七条宮などに住む。延喜5(905)年出家。和歌の才能に優れ当時の歌壇の中心的存在だった。歌人の伊勢は温子の女房。
