...Moderate to severe burns require hospitalization, and in addition to local treatment, intensive systemic treatment is given, depending on the symptoms and severity, including fluid replacement, cardiac stimulants, corticosteroids, antibiotics, analgesics, sedatives, and oxygen inhalation.

Also called chemical burns. Burns caused by acids such as sulfuric acid, nitric acid, hydrochloric acid, and hydrogen fluoride, as well as alkalis and metal salts such as ammonia, caustic soda, and caustic potash, often result in necrosis similar to that of a typical third-degree burn.
