Bouvet [island] - Bouvet
An isolated island in the South Atlantic Ocean, about 2,400 km southwest of the southern tip of the African continent and about 1,600 km north of Antarctica. Discovered by French naval officer Bouvet in 1739, it was claimed by Britain in 1825, but became a Norwegian territory in 1930. Uninhabited. Approximately 58 km2 .
