Fukuroda Falls - Fukuroda Falls

Japanese:
Fukuroda Falls - Fukuroda Falls
Located in Fukuroda, Daigo-cho, Kuji-gun, at the northern end of Ibaraki Prefecture, this waterfall is located on the Takikawa River, a tributary of the Kuji River. It is 121m high. It is also known as Yodo-no-taki (four-step waterfall), as it is characterized by its spectacular scenery of falling in four stages. The waterfall was formed by cutting through the agglomerate rock layers that make up Namase-Fuji and Mount Tsukiore, with the Namase Basin and Namase Falls upstream. It is known for its large amount of water, the beauty of its new greenery and autumn leaves, and especially the spectacular ice formations in the harsh winter, making it a four-season tourist destination. It has been known for its scenic beauty since the Edo period, and many writers have visited it, but the opening of Fukuroda Onsen and the JR Suigun Line in the early Showa period led to an increase in tourists, and tourist facilities were also developed.
