Pitcairn [island] - Pitcairn
A volcanic island located southeast of the Tuamotu Islands in the South Pacific Ocean and under British rule. The British ship Carteret arrived there in 1767. It was uninhabited for a long time, but it is known that the crew of the British ship Bounty who mutinied there settled there with Tahitians in 1790. The current inhabitants are their descendants. It has been a British territory since 1887. 5 km 2 . 48 people (2003).
