Fukurasuzume - Fukurasuzume

A moth belonging to the family Noctuidae in the order Lepidoptera of the class Insecta. Its body is thick and flat. It is a large species with a wing span of about 80 mm. Both the body and wings are brownish black, the hind wings have transverse veins of the same color as the blue band, and the forewings are scattered with blue scales. It is distributed widely throughout most of Japan, as well as neighboring continents, Southeast Asia, and Australia. It has two generations per year and overwinters as an adult. In late autumn, it may hide in a dark place such as a door pocket or a corner of a kitchen until the following spring, but when the temperature rises due to heating, it will fly actively around the room. The larvae feed on the leaves of ramie, wild mustard, and paper mulberry.

昆虫綱鱗翅(りんし)目ヤガ科に属するガ。体は太くて扁平(へんぺい)。はねの開張80ミリメートル内外の大形種。体とはねはともに褐色を帯びた黒色で、後翅には青色帯と同じ色の横脈紋があり、前翅に青色鱗を散布する。ほとんど日本全土のほか、隣接大陸、東南アジアからオーストラリアにかけて広く分布する。年2化で、成虫態で越冬する。晩秋になると、人家の戸袋や台所の隅の暗所で翌春まで潜んでいることがあるが、暖房で温度が上昇すると、部屋の中を活発に飛ぶ。幼虫はカラムシ、ヤブマオ、コウゾなどの葉を食べる。
