A shrine in Yahiko Village, Nishikanbara County, Niigata Prefecture. Located at the foot of Mt. Yahiko. It can be read as either "Iyahikojinja" or "Yahikojinja." It is listed in the Engishiki. The deity enshrined is Amanokaguyama-no-mikoto (Iyahiko-no-kami). The lantern ritual held in July is designated as an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property of Japan as the "Yahiko Shrine Lantern Push and Dance." The official spelling is "Yahiko Shrine." 新潟県西蒲原郡弥彦(やひこ)村にある神社。弥彦山麓に位置する。「いやひこじんじゃ」とも「やひこじんじゃ」とも読む。延喜式内社。祭神は天香山命(あまのかぐやまのみこと)(伊夜彦神)。7月に行われる灯籠神事は「弥彦神社燈篭おしと舞楽」として国の重要無形民俗文化財に指定。正式な表記は「彌彦神社」。越後国一之宮。
