...It grows in the mountains and fields of Honshu from Miyagi Prefecture westward, Shikoku, and Kyushu, and is also distributed on Jeju Island in Korea. Yamazakura has no hairs on the leaves or flowers, and the undersides of the flowers are mostly white, but Usugeyamazakura, which has scattered hairs on some of its leaves, also grows here and there. There is also a one-year-old cherry tree called waki no sakura, which blooms when it is two or three years old, and the double-flowered Konohanazakura and Goshinzakura trees bloom a little later. ...
