Compound document - Fukugo Monjo

Japanese: 複合文書 - ふくごうもんじょ

A term used in paleography. A document that contains not only the will of the sender but also the response of the other party on a single sheet of paper. In other words, a letter of petition with a title, a letter of assignment, a letter of arrival with a seal, a letter of loyalty, a letter of return (a letter in which the addressee writes a reply to the original letter and returns it), etc., are combined to form a single document.

古文書学の用語。一つの料紙に，差出し人の意志内容だけでなく，相手方の対応までが盛込まれている文書。すなわち外題付きの申状，譲状，証判付きの着到状，軍忠状，勘返付き書状 (書状の名あて人がその書状に返事を書込んで返送したもの) などがこれで，複合して一つの文書を形成しているものをいう。
