Multi-purpose terminal - Fukugo Terminal

Japanese: 複合ターミナル - ふくごうターミナル

A terminal that combines the terminal functions of different types of transportation means in one terminal for the purpose of intermodal transport of freight. In freight transport, ports are the hubs between maritime and land transport, and airports are the hubs between air and land transport, and these function as hubs connecting different types of transport means. There are also terminals such as railway freight stations and truck terminals that act as links between land transport means. The functions of these terminals are varied, but what they all have in common is that they function to connect main line transport with terminal transport according to the characteristics of the transport means.

貨物の協同一貫輸送のため，一つのターミナルに異なった種類の輸送機関のターミナル機能を一体化させたもの。貨物輸送においては，海上輸送と陸上輸送の結節点として港湾が，航空輸送と陸上輸送の結節点として空港があり，これらは異種の輸送機関を結ぶ結節点として機能している。また鉄道の貨物駅，トラック･ターミナルのように陸上輸送相互の連絡をする役割をもつターミナルもある。これらのターミナルの機能はさまざまであるが，いずれにも共通することは，輸送手段特性に応じて，本線輸送と端末輸送を結合する機能を果たしていることである。
