Sexual anesthesia

This condition is generally used to describe women who desire sexual intercourse but feel little or no pleasure during it. It is often difficult to distinguish it from asexuality or frigidity, which are conditions in which the desire for sexual intercourse is lacking. The majority of causes are due to sexual ignorance, and sexual intercourse without foreplay is the biggest cause that is thought to be caused by men. Other male causes include premature ejaculation, impotence, and violent or unsympathetic attitudes. On the other hand, most female causes are anxiety, fear, aversion, and shame about sexual intercourse, which stem from the same sexual ignorance as men, but a small proportion are due to underdevelopment or abnormal morphology of the genitals, as well as organic disorders such as pain during intercourse due to inflammation, and endocrine disorders.

Treatment involves first identifying the cause, and if it is organic, then treating that cause appropriately. On the other hand, in treating psychological causes, the cooperation of the partner is essential, and sexual ignorance and lack of understanding must be fully enlightened and educated, and partners must actually practice genital stimulation training together.

性交欲はあるが、性交に際して快感をほとんど感知しないか、あるいはまったく快感を伴わないものをいい、一般に女性についていわれる。性交欲を欠く性交無欲症あるいは冷感症との区別は困難な場合が多い。原因の大半は性的無知によるもので、とくに男性側に原因すると考えられるものとして、前戯のない性交がいちばん大きな原因である。また、このほか男性側の原因としては、早漏やインポテンス、粗暴あるいは無理解な態度などがある。一方、女性側の原因として、男性同様の性的無知からくる性交に対する不安、恐怖、嫌悪、羞恥(しゅうち)などがその大半であるが、ごく一部に性器の発育不全あるいは形態異常のほか、炎症などによる性交時の疼痛(とうつう)といった器質的障害や内分泌疾患などによるものが認められる。

　治療法は、まずその原因を明らかにし、器質的原因による場合にはその原因に対して正しく治療する。一方、心因性のものに対する治療にはパートナーの協力が不可欠で、性的無知や無理解に対しては十分に啓蒙(けいもう)、教育するとともに、実際に性器に対する刺激訓練をパートナー間で行わせる。
